ULTRANAK-1 is a completely safe air-sterilization device, which is operated in the presence of personnel. Its principle of operation is based on the use of an ultraviolet light bulb, whose emission of ultraviolet irradiation with a wavelength of 254Nm is germicide and active against spores, covering the whole range of pathogens (fungi, bacterial pathogens, mycobacteria and their spores, viruses and other airborne pathogenic organisms or particles).

UVC sterilization devices have generally been used for more than 40 years to sterilize water, air, surfaces, objects, food, pharmaceuticals and more.

Sterilization devices ULTRANAK-1 are known in the Greek hospital market, public and private, for more than 20 years, with about 1.500 installed units until today.

Ultraviolet irradiation has a physicochemical effect: When a virus infects a host or, when a bacterium reproduces, it uses DNA or RNA for reproduction, making it possible to multiply and spread. The energy of ultraviolet irradiation C (UV-C) affects DNA and RNA by changing its structure and disabling its function.

Scientific literature regarding application techniques, as well as the germicide and against spores action of ultraviolet irradiation, both in monographs and in individual scientific articles, older and newer, is gigantic in scope.

Studies on various bacteria have shown that the required (flow) dose of energy for 99.99% sterilization varies between 2 and 25 mJ / cm2. Some resistant strains require doses up to 100 mJ / cm2, while in general, as far as viruses are concerned, it seems that typically the required flow should be slightly higher, between 10 and 100 mJ / cm2. For the corona-virus family, the requirement is 67 mJ / cm2 on average, which seems to be the widely accepted flow / dose value for neutralizing SARS-CoV-2 at 90% (Table 1). Finally, there are UV applications that achieve up to 99.99% sterilization in bacteria and fungi (Table 2, source: see bibliographic reference below, c.nr. 1).
